Boycott Chinese products – this slogan has been doing rounds for quite some time in India but sadly has not made a big impact. But the call to boycott Chinese products is once again gaining strength among Indians on social media. Also, a recent appeal by Sonam Wangchuk has strengthened the campaign further.

Sonam Wangchuk has requested fellow Indians to boycott Chinese apps in a week and Chinese hardware in a year. Avoid products that have been made in China and try to find alternatives. While we will need some time to figure out alternatives to Chinese hardware, we can immediately let go of Chinese software at least. We are sure that we have sufficient Indian alternatives to Chinese apps. If not Indian apps, we can check out other non-Chinese alternatives.

In the recent years, the app ecosystem in the Indian market has been taken over by Chinese apps. At present, most of the top-charting apps on the Play Store have Chinese roots. Many experts claim that Chinese apps collect user data and even some personally identifiable information.

The Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi also talked about being “atmanirbhar” in his speech, due to which people are deleting Chinese apps from their phones and promoting apps that are developed in India.
